Snorkelling in Iceland is special for more reasons than one. Firstly, Silfra is unique in that it is the only location in the world where you can dive in between two tectonic plates. The fissure was formed when the two plates drifted apart, as they continue to do to this day, at a rate of two centimetres each year. The second factor making snorkeling at Silfra a very unique and special experience is the visibility. Nowhere else in the world will you experience this level of clarity, reaching over 100m on most days.
