Snorkelling in Iceland is special for more reasons than one. Firstly, Silfra is unique in that it is the only location in the world where you can dive in between two tectonic plates. The fissure was formed when the two plates drifted apart, as they continue to do to this day, at a rate of two centimetres each year.
